The F. E. Warren Mental Health Clinic offers several self-improvement workshops including an anger management class, which was most recently held July 17.

"It's one of our most popular classes," said Glenn Garcia, 90th Medical Operations Squadron Family Advocacy outreach manager.

Garcia taught those attending the class what causes anger, how to avoid losing control of one's temper, why people should control their anger and why it is important for people to keep their anger in check.

Why a Snowboard Sizing Calculator is So Essential for Snowboarding

Copyright (c) 2012 Dan Garren

You simply cannot ride a bicycle if your feet cannot reach its pedals. Similarly, you cannot snowboard if you do not know anything about the size of the board that suits you the most. Therefore, it is important to buy a snowboard with the right size when you plan to snowboard.

Secondly, determining the boot size of a snowboard is equally essential in order to perform effectively in snowboarding. If you do not know the correct size, you may fall down the snowy hills because your toes are not placed in the correct position on the snowboard boot. Also, you need to evaluate whether you have enough ability to snowboard or not.

All the above factors indicate that there should be an instrument that considers all these points and reveals the required snowboard size of each snowboarder accordingly. One such instrument is the snowboard sizing calculator that keeps snowboarders on the right track. When they insert their information, it shows them the right size of snowboard they should buy.

More about Snowboard Sizing Calculator

There are various snowboard manufacturers that sell snowboards online. Obviously, their customers also want to know the right size of snowboard they should buy. Therefore, snowboard manufacturers make sure that they provide snowboard calculators on their websites. You can use this calculator for free. You just have to insert some values such as, your weight, height, etc, and you get the right snowboard size that suits you. Half the job is done once you have bought a snowboard that exactly matches your snowboarding characteristics. This is because only the right snowboarding equipment will enable you to master the art of snowboarding.

How it Works

A snowboard calculator is divided into the following parts in which you have to insert values: Height (Measurement ranges from the shortest to the tallest snowboarders) Weight (From 30 pounds onwards) Gender (Male/Female) Skill level (Beginner, Intermediate, Expert) Riding style (Freestyle, Freeride, Freestyle/Freeride, and many more) Boot size (From smallest to the largest)

When you click on each part, it gives you the above options to choose from. After you have provided all the required information, click on "calculate snowboard size". The calculator will show you what size of snowboard you should buy for yourself. It will show the length and the waist width of a snowboard that is perfect for you. Some Considerations for Snowboarders In some situations, the most important thing to consider is the snowboarder's ability.

Therefore, it is okay to use a shorter snowboard. Similarly, it does not always matter if you are tall and weigh more. However, your snowboarding calculator may show you that you require a large-sized snowboard. But you do not need to follow it completely. Focus on your snowboarding skills. If you are still a beginner, it is better that you prefer a shorter snowboard because it is easier to snowboard this way. Otherwise, taking help from a snowboarding calculator is the best way to determine which size you require.

Mother Nature's Olympians crowned

Sue Mainka / IUCN

The cheetah can run more than twice as fast as the fastest human for short distances.

By Alan Boyle

The Olympics is a time to celebrate the world's fastest and strongest humans, but you can rely on the International Union for the Conservation of Nature to put the best of human performance in perspective. They've just come out with their list of Olympians for the natural world?? champions that range from the fleet cheetah to the humble fungus.

"While celebrating the achievements of talented athletes across the world this summer, we should also take the time to appreciate these incredible species," the IUCN says in today's Olympian roundup. Here are some of the conservation group's medalists for 2012:

Sprint: Cheetahs (Acinonyx jubatus) can bolt at 70 mph or more for short bursts, making them the world's fastest land animals. In comparison, Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt is credited as the fastest human, with a top running speed of 27.79 mph. Theoretically, humans could reach velocities of 40 mph ? still short of the cheetah's personal best.?

High jump: To even things out, cross-species-wise, the IUCN is measuring jumping ability in terms of body length. By that measure, a lowly insect known as the common froghopper (Philaenus spumarius)?gets the high-jump crown. It can jump 115 times its body length, while the record for humans is just a little over 8 feet (2.45 meters). That's about 1.25 times the height of the record-holder, Cuba's Javier Sotomayor (6-foot-5 or 195 centimeters).

Joelle Dufour / IUCN

The rhinoceros beetle can lift 30 times its own weight.

Weightlifting: The IUCN's winner here is the rhinoceros beetle (Megasoma elephas), which can lift more than 30 times its body mass. In comparison, the IUCN notes that the heaviest individual weight lifted by a human in an Olympic competition was 580.9 pounds (263.5 kilograms), a record set by Iran's Hossein Rezazadeh. His weight as of 2007 is listed as 340 pounds (152 kilograms), which means the poor guy couldn't even lift a mass twice his own weight.

Archery:?The smallscale archerfish (Toxotes microlepis) can shoot down land-based insects (flying insects or insects on branches) and other small animals with water shot from their specialized mouths.

Boxing:?The mating season for the European hare (Lepus europaeus) peaks in the spring, during a time called ?March Madness.? Females choose their partners according to their strength by "boxing" with them ? when females and males stand on their hind legs and hit each other with their paws. As females are slightly larger than males, only the strong males impress the females and get the chance to mate. Survival of the fittest: the true gold medal.?

Gymnastics: In the animal world, it's hard to beat the?agile gibbon (Hylobates agilis).?

Agile gibbons are monkeying around at Thailand's Chiang Mai Zoo.

Shooting:?The fruits of the Himalayan balsam (Impatiens glandulifera) open explosively with a popping sound, "shooting" their seeds to distances of 23 feet (7 meters) or so. A prolific seed producer, each plant produces about 2,500 seeds, and its dispersal technique helps the plant colonize new areas. Native to the Himalayas, but naturalized in Europe and elsewhere, it tends to become an invasive species and outcompete other plants.

Shot put:?The Lammergeier (Gypaetus barbatus), also known as a bearded vulture, is one of the largest of the Old World vultures. This bird wins the IUCN's medal for shot put because it drops large bones from great heights in order to shatter them and eat the marrow inside.

Opening ceremonies: If there's any guest you'd want to have on hand for the Olympics' opening ceremonies, it'd be Zeus olympius. That's a species of fungus that makes its home on Mount Olympus, the mythical home of the Greek gods (including Zeus, the star of the show). It's found growing on the dead branches of pine trees. The IUCN notes that Zeus olympius has recently been found in one other location on Earth: an area of southwest Bulgaria, near the Greek border.

David Minter

The fungus known as Zeus olympius has been found only on dead branches of pine trees on Greece's Mount Olympus - and recently at a spot in Bulgaria.

Best Buy customers returned Samsung tablets after mistaking them for iPads...

Amid the flood of court documents being released as part of the ongoing Apple vs Samsung courtroom drama, Ina Fried from AllThingsD notes the following line (emphasis mine):

Samsung was forced to release a bunch of documents it had been keeping under seal that show the likeness between its products and Apple?s. Examples outlined in the documents include comments from Samsung workers discussion similarities with Apple?s products and reports Samsung got from retailer Best Buy that Samsung tablets were being returned because customers thought they were getting iPads.

It's Best Buy customers plural, so we know it's more than one. But no number is given, so we don't know it's more than two. We have not idea how many Best Buy stores the customers were spread over either. It makes for a great headline or pull quote. It may or may not make for good evidence in court. But it almost certainly will get some attention online, and be the subject of a few jokes.

But seriously, how many people really bought a Samsung tablet thinking it was an iPad, took it home, and then at some point discovered it wasn't? And at what point did they discover it wasn't? How many really didn't know vs. how many had second thoughts and decided they wanted an iPad instead?

And does that say more about Samsung copying Apple design motifs, Best Buy not properly interacting with their customers to assure they're getting what they want to get, or customers just being inattentive? Remember how hard it was for our own Seth Clifford to buy an Android tablet at Staples?

It's going to get sillier before it gets saner, folks.

WASHINGTON (AP) ? President Barack Obama will not push for stricter gun laws this election year, the White House said Thursday, one day after his impassioned remarks about the need to keep assault weapons off the streets suggested he may plunge into that political fight and challenge Congress to act.

Instead, Obama's stand on the government's role ended up right where it was after the mass shooting in Colorado last week: Enforce existing law better.

That is same view held by his Republican opponent, Mitt Romney, as both reach for broader and more politically appealing ways to keep guns away from killers.

Obama still wants Congress to reinstitute a federal ban on military-style assault weapons that lapsed years ago, his spokesman Jay Carney said. But the president is not and has not been pushing for that ban, a nod to the politics of gun control.

There is no interest among many lawmakers of both parties to take on the divisive matter. Especially not with an election in just over 100 days.

Sealing the matter, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday the Senate's schedule is too packed to even have a debate on gun control.

Asked if the Senate might debate the issue next year, Reid said, "Nice try."

Public opinion has shifted away from tighter gun control. Twenty years ago, polls showed that a substantial majority supported stricter limits on guns. Now Americans appear evenly divided. Nearly every statement on the matter from Romney and Obama includes reminders that they stand by the Second Amendment.

From the White House, Carney said: "There are things that we can do short of legislation and short of gun laws."

The lack of legislation reflects that reality, too: Police say laws and background checks are often futile in keeping someone with horrifying intent from executing a massacre. Authorities say the suspect in the Aurora, Colo., shootings broke no laws when he purchased the guns he is accused of using, and he passed the required background checks.

Obama and his team "gain nothing politically, and they just don't have the horsepower to pass anything," said William Vizzard, professor emeritus of criminal justice at California State University, Sacramento, and an author on gun control politics. "And then the problem is trying to craft a law that would really do something."

Yet at least one prominent gun control group sought Thursday to pressure Obama and Romney to offer voters concrete plans. The group's president, Dan Gross, said words alone were not enough in a nation in which 32 people are killed by guns each day. He specifically challenged Obama to move beyond the rhetoric.

"The president said very similar things in his last campaign," said Gross, head of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. "A speech is not a plan. An endorsement of a measure is not a solution."

It was Obama who stirred the issue in speaking Wednesday night to the National Urban League, a civil rights organization whose mission is to help black Americans secure economic opportunity and power.

In his most extensive remarks on guns since the Colorado shooting left 12 dead and dozens wounded, Obama said steps to reduce violence have been opposed by Congress and "we should leave no stone unturned" in the national imperative of keeping young people safe.

And he got specific on assault-style weapons. "A lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not in the hands of criminals ? that they belong on the battlefield of war, not on the streets of our cities," he said.

Obama's message was comprehensive, but he ultimately did not promise anything specific. He spoke of community policing strategies and mental health centers, or programs that steer people away into safe activities instead of gang violence, of ensuring that parents and teachers step in to fill a hole in a child's heart "that government alone cannot fill."

Romney, in an interview Thursday with CNN, said new laws won't help. He cited the case of Timothy McVeigh, who was convicted and put to death for the 1995 bombing of a federal building in Oklahoma City, which killed 168 people. McVeigh used fertilizer in constructing his bomb.

"I think that the effort to continue to look for some law to somehow make violence go away is missing the point," Romney said. "The real point has to relate to individuals that are deranged and distressed, and to find them and help them and to keep them from carrying out terrible acts."

The ban on assault weapons that became law in 1994, during President Bill Clinton's first term, contributed to the Democrats' loss of Congress that year. It expired during George W. Bush's presidency in 2004.

The ban would have prevented the Colorado shooting suspect, James Holmes, from legally buying one of the four firearms police found on him and in his car, an assault rifle. It also would have prevented him from buying new high-capacity ammunition magazines.

Vizzard, the gun control scholar, said there are legislative ways to reduce gun violence, particularly over a longer term of 20 to 30 years. But with an estimated 300 million guns in the United States, he said, Obama is right that "the things that have the most impact are cultural" and that shape the behavior of young people.

Obama once got into his own firestorm during the 2008 presidential race by saying some bitter small-town residents cling to guns and religion for solace. This time, Vizzard said, the president will not give any material to critics who believe he is out to strip their gun rights.

"He's a cagey guy," Vizzard said. "He's just not going to do it."

Teen charged with murder of child, 4, at playground

Police say they have arrested teenager in connection with a shooting at a Bronx park killed a little boy. WNBC's Ida Siegal reports.

By NBC News staff

A teenager in New York has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a preschooler who was caught in the crossfire at a Bronx park Sunday night.

Rondell Pinkerton, 17, was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the death of 4-year-old Lloyd Morgan, who was killed when gunshots erupted in the park around 9:45 p.m., NBCNewYork.com reported.

?We are speaking to a 17-year-old young man who admits to being at the scene of the shooting,? NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly said at a press conference Tuesday. ?[He] admits to shooting rounds at that location. He states it was self-defense because he was being shot at.?

Detectives believe the shooting involved four members of one group against an unidentified individual, NBCNewYork.com reported.

Mourners attend a rally on July 23 at the Forest Houses public housing development in New York City after four-year-old Lloyd Morgan was shot and killed in a gun battle during a basketball tournament.

Another person allegedly involved in incident, Courtney Kelly, 26, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon. His role in the shooting wasn't immediately clear, police said.?

Morgan was shot in the head when gunfire rang out after a barbecue and charity basketball game at a court a few yards away from the playground where he was playing.

Police say there may have been as many as three or four guns fired that night. Kelly said that investigators had not yet determined whether Pinkerton had fired the fatal shot, or if the bullet had come from someone else shooting at the time.

?You don?t even understand how this affects someone with a boy, let alone a small boy,? Lloyd's mother, Shianne Norman, told PIX11 through tears. ?No one expects their child to be shot at four.?

Authorities say two other men were also shot. A 27-year-old was shot in the stomach and a 21-year-old was shot in the arm. Both are expected to survive.

Police believe the men were shooting at each other as part of an ongoing argument. They are investigating revenge as a possible motive. ?

Police have taken several people who were at the scene into custody since the night of the shooting, many of whom had outstanding warrants.?

Tiny sea creatures ride rogue currents

Samples of plankton collected in the Arctic Ocean near Norway revealed something surprising: single-celled creatures that belonged thousands of miles to the south where the conditions are balmier. ?

This may sound like a story about the surprising effects of global warming, but it isn't. At least not entirely.

That's because the researchers believe these warm-water invaders, called Radiolaria, are likely the result of an isolated pulse of water that carried them beyond the usual extent of the northbound Gulf Stream, a current that travels from the Gulf of Mexico into the northern Atlantic Ocean.

Radiolaria have ornate, glassy shells, and they eat algae and other microscopic organisms. Different species live in different temperature ranges. [ Spectacular Photos of Sea Creatures ]

In 2010, a ship operated by the Norwegian Polar Institute collected plankton samples northwest of the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard in the Arctic Ocean. Of the 145 types of organisms in these samples, 98 came from farther south, as far as the tropics.

    1. 'Maiden' Inca mummy had lung infection

The so-called Maiden mummy of a 15-year-old Incan girl who was sacrificed 500 years ago is giving up some secrets, revealing the teenager suffered from a bacterial lung infection at the time of her death, scientists report Wednesday.

    2. Scared of spiders? Well, brace yourself...
    3. Weird 'methane seep' found off San Diego coast
    4. Ancient life-size lion statues baffle scientists

The discovery of living organisms like these in the northern waters was unprecedented, but the quirk in ocean circulation that scientists believe carried them this far north is not. Pulses of warm water have reached along the Norwegian coast and into the Arctic basin several times in the 20th century. What's more fossil evidence suggests warm-water plankton may have become temporarily established in the Arctic multiple times during past millennia.

"This doesn't happen continuously ? but it happens," lead researcher Kjell Bjorklund of the University of Oslo Natural History Museum said in a statement.

While researchers don't think this particular incursion is the direct result of global warming, ocean scientists generally expect changes in ocean circulation to bring more southern water, and the organisms it contains, farther north.

For instance, warming is expected to weaken a current, the North Atlantic Polar Gyre, that prevents the Gulf Stream from penetrating farther north. Changing wind patterns and the influx of freshwater from melting sea ice and glaciers could also result in more southern water being drawn north, said Arnold Gordon, head of Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory's division of ocean and climate physics at Columbia University, in a statement. Gordon was not involved in this research.

"When we suddenly find tropical plankton in the Arctic, the issue of global warming comes right up," study researcher O. Roger Anderson, a specialist in one-celled organisms at Lamont-Doherty, said in a statement. So, it's important to critically examine evidence that may explain observations like this one, Anderson said.?

A description of the radiolaria discovery appears in the July issue of the journal Micropaleontology.

More Details about http://www.hazardouslocationlighting.net/ here.

Lights are always part of human lives and without them we cannot lead a normal life. We can find them in any places irrespective of whether a house, a commercial establishment or an industrial establishment. However, there are some model illuminants that are specially meant for some locations like the case of industrial lightings. These illuminants are specially meant for usage in manufacturing units that require more lights as compared to a home or other commercial establishment that too in manufacturing units where hazardous materials are manufactured, it is essential that appropriate illuminants should be used to protect the workers from any form of risks to their lives. Here are some of the types of light fittings that can be used in industries:

Incandescent lights: This model bulb was the first to be introduced by Thomas Edison. These models were widely used in industries and now it has been found that these illuminants can consume more electric power as compared to modern form of illuminants and therefore owners of industrial establishments are looking for other options that can save on their electricity and replacement expenditure as well. Even though, this model is cost effective, they are inefficient as compared to other model since most of the energy is converted into heat, rather than light.

Fluorescent models: Even though, this form of illuminants offer the same level of illumination as the incandescent models, they are more efficient and long lasting for usage in manufacturing areas and this type is being used in some commercial establishments.

HID Lighting: This is the most powerful type of fittings available in the market nowadays and some of their types include high pressure sodium bulbs, mercury vapor and metal halide lights. Even though, this model offers more efficient illumination, it is known to consume more energy. However, this model can last double times longer than the life of fluorescent models. It is costlier as compared to other models and it takes some time for warming up before attaining the full brightness.

Nowadays, to enable industries to attain utmost protection and maximum illumination with better energy consumption, a wide range of industrial lighting options are offered by some of the best manufactures and dealers and irrespective of whether an industry deals with hazardous materials or normal materials, they can make use of the energy efficient location lighting options offered by these companies and can save a lot on their power bills. Bulk orders can be placed with these online dealers and quality products can be obtained by industries right to their doorsteps.

Hazardous Lights Co,leads the industry in innovative solutions and ruggedly designed products for Hazardous Area Lighting, explosion proof lighting Fixtures, Explosion Proof Light Fixtures and Quality LED Exit Signs. UK in a deeper recession than thought

(AP) ? Britain is suffering a far deeper recession than thought, official figures showed Wednesday in a development that is likely to increase the pressure on the government to ease up on its tough austerity approach.

The Office for National Statistics said the British economy contracted by a quarterly rate of 0.7 percent in the second quarter of the year. That was way more than the expectation in the markets for a far more modest 0.2 percent decline, and confirmed that the British recession has run into a third quarter.

The statistics office said the quarter was likely depressed by an extra day's holiday in June to celebrate the 60-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The wettest quarter since records began over 100 years ago is unlikely to have helped either.

Despite the caveats, the figures are likely to be big blow to the Conservative-led coalition government, which on entering office a little over two years ago put deficit-reduction at the heart of its economic program. Many, particularly the opposition Labour Party, think the medicine has been too much and choked the life out of the British economy, which is Europe's third-largest.

"We don't expect much policy response from government after today's news, though pressure will grow for a change of direction," said Scott Corfe, senior economist at the Centre for Economic and Business Research.

British Treasury chief George Osborne again blamed the economy's problems on debts run up by the previous Labour government and the impact of the Eurozone crisis.

"We all know the country has deep-rooted economic problems and these disappointing figures confirm that," Osborne said.

Last week, the International Monetary Fund said Prime Minister David Cameron's government may have to ease up on budget cutting if the economy fails to rebound strongly. The IMF cut its forecast for U.K. growth this year to 0.2 percent from 0.8 percent.

A more detailed look at the figures showed all sectors contributing to the quarterly decline. Output from the service industries including the financial sector was down 0.1 percent, manufacturing and other production industries were down 1.3 percent and construction fell 5.2 percent.

Britain has been in recession for much of the last four years. Like much of the world, it suffered a deep 18-month recession following the financial crisis. That only ended in the last quarter of 2009. Since the fourth quarter of 2009, GDP has fallen in five of the last seven quarters, and the latest result was the sharpest drop during that time. The technical definition of a recession is two successive quarters of decline.

The figures are at odds with other economic indicators. Unemployment has eased to 8.1 percent in the last report, with 250,000 private sector jobs added in the three months through April. Forward-looking surveys of business sentiment have been upbeat too.

"We can think of no reason why companies would be taking on staff at such an impressive rate if the economy really was collapsing to the extent that the GDP numbers suggest," said Chris Williamson, chief economist at financial data company Markit.

Other analysts suggest that employment enjoyed a short-term boost from hiring to support the Olympic Games.

Stand Firm | ?I'm from the Government, and I'm Here to Help You?

When Moses asked God to be allowed to see Him face-to-face, God told Moses that if He allowed Moses to do so, Moses would perish on the spot. God transformed Himself into a burning bush, so that Moses could look upon Him without dying.

For 24-year-old Tonya Reaves of Chicago, who simply looked on the face of Big, all-caring Government, it was a true tragedy?because she did perish shortly afterward.

Only there were few chroniclers to record her passing. Instead, she merited only this laconic report in most news media:

A woman died of injuries she received during an abortion at a local Planned Parenthood clinic Friday.

Tonya Reaves, 24, of the 1500 block of N. Kildare, was pronounced dead at 11:20 p.m. Friday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner?s office. She was taken to the hospital from the Planned Parenthood clinic at 18 S. Michigan Ave.

An autopsy done Saturday listed the woman?s cause of death to be hemorrhage, with a cervical dilation and evacuation, as well as an intrauterine pregnancy as contributing causes, according to the medical examiner?s office. Her death was ruled an accident.

Calls to local and national Planned Parenthood offices were not returned.?

A little Googling enables us to put more flesh on these bare bones. Tonya Reaves is survived by a twin sister, Toni, who told the British news media (who still know how to dig into a story) that Tonya left behind a one-year-old son, Alvin, and a fianc?, and that the family wants to know how he death could be ruled ?an accident.? From the Daily Mail, where there are pictures of Tonya, and lots more:

The family of Tonya Reaves, 24, is demanding answers after she died suddenly after an abortion at a Chicago Planned Parenthood.

Ms Reaves died Friday night of a hemorrhage, the medical examiner said, with complications from the procedure as well as the pregnancy itself as a contributing factor.

Her death was ruled as an accident, but her twin sister and her family want to know how this tragedy happened.

?It happened so fast. She was just fine one day and then the next day she was gone,? Toni Reaves said of her sister?s passing to CBS.

The procedure which Tonya underwent at the Planned Parenthood (what a misnomer!) clinic is supposed to be standard for a second-trimester pregnancy, but in this case, the outcome was definitely not routine. According to a pro-life news site:

An autopsy conducted Saturday determined that she died from hemorrhage following a Dilation and Evacuation abortion. The D&E abortion method is one employed in pregnancies that have advanced beyond the first trimester. In involves opening the cervix and removing the pre-born baby by dismembering him or her. The Loop Health Center Planned Parenthood advertizes abortions up to 18 weeks.

While the name of the abortionist responsible for this patient death is currently unknown, Planned Parenthood?s most recent 990 tax forms list abortionist Caroline M. Hoke as its medical director.

This incident follows a report published in the Chicago Tribune in June 2011, that exposed the fact that some abortionists did not report complications at all, in violation of the law. At that time, Illinois officials made no attempt to enforce abortion laws in that state.

?Abortion deaths like this are completely avoidable,? said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue and Pro-Life Nation. ?When a woman bleeds to death after an abortion, it is usually an indication of error on the part of the abortionist coupled with a delay in calling for emergency assistance. Planned Parenthood should be held accountable. Our heartfelt prayers go out to the victim?s family at this time of tragic loss.?

Fot its part, Planned Parenthood was refusing to accept any responsibility, and staying mum on the details, ostensibly because of HIPAA?s privacy requirements. According to the statement PP eventually released to the news media:

We were shocked and saddened upon learning of a tragic development at a nearby hospital. Our hearts go out to the loved ones of this patient.? While legal abortion services in the United States have a very high safety record, a tragedy such as this is devastating to loved ones and we offer our deepest sympathies. Planned Parenthood of Illinois cares deeply about the health and safety of each and every patient. ?We do not publicly discuss private patient matters and we follow HIPAA laws that forbid the disclosure of patient information,? said Planned Parenthood of Illinois CEO Carole Brite.

Notice how, in the first sentence of that statement, Planned Parenthood has managed to shift the site of Tonya?s tragedy from its clinic to ?a nearby hospital.? This is because Planned Parenthood does not want to endanger its primary source of funding, in the face of repeated calls to prevent our taxes from being used to pay for abortions:

The abortion death took place in President Obama?s adopted hometown of Chicago at a time when his administration is working hard to provide funding to Planned Parenthood through the federalized health care system.

?In light of this tragedy, which is yet another in a long list of Planned Parenthood abuses, we call on President Obama to immediately withdraw all federal funding and personal support from Planned Parenthood,? said Newman. ?Friday?s death is yet another reason why men and women of conscience across this nation cannot and will not comply with the forced funding of abortion and its intentional violation of religious liberties.?

So we all pay for abortions without accountability, and Tanya Reeves is the one who ends up really paying?with her life, to say nothing of the horrific death of her dismembered, ripped-apart-in-the-womb, unborn child. But the grisly irony in this tragedy is left to Christian Newswire to uncover:

It is so heartbreaking and tragic that this young woman believed the continuous lies of Planned Parenthood who state that abortions are perfectly safe.

The truth is that abortion is not safe for the women who experience physical and emotional problems for years and years after having an abortion?abortion is not safe for the 4,500 innocent babies that are brutally slaughtered each and every day in America, and abortion is most certainly not safe for the young women who die at the hand of an abortionist.

Incredibly, Planned Parenthood was founded by a racist named Margaret Sanger who made it her life?s work to limit the growth of the black population in America. She felt so strongly about this she initiated the ?Negro Project? in 1939. The objective of the ?project? was to infiltrate the black community by presenting birth control, sterilization and abortion as health options for black women.

To this day, Planned Parenthood?s billion dollars a year, genocidal formula continues to kill women and children?with Black women and children being disproportionately targeted for abortion. This is no accident?it?s just business?a very cruel and bloody business!

To which the only proper reaction is fury?controlled fury, directed at your legislators, who perpetuate this outrage in the expectation it will earn them votes for their re-election in November. Turn them out, I say. Let your contempt for such pandering express itself at the ballot box: it is time to hold all your representatives accountable!

Tonya Reaves believed that Government would get her out of a jam, for free, but paid the ultimate price for that belief. To encourage such a belief is to make those lowest on the economic scale less and less responsible for their actions?those who may be least able to accept responsibility in the first place. (As we found out after some digging, Tonya was unmarried, with a one-year-old son, and was engaged to be married.? However, she was in the second trimester of a new pregnancy, from which she expected the Government to free her. It did just that, of course, but not in the way she expected.)

The inevitable dependency to which Government funding for welfare leads was manifest this past week not just in the individual tragedy of Tonya Reaves and her unborn baby, but also on a much more widespread scale. Consider this next news item, out of Cleveland (H/T: Ace of Spades):

A myth that President Obama is giving people money to pay their bills has prompted thousands of people across the country to try to pay for utilities, phone service and loans using bogus bank routing numbers.

United Way of Cleveland?s 2-1-1 changed its answering machine Monday to say rumors of the Obama program were false after fielding dozens of calls.

Later that day, a United Way employee was on an RTA bus when a rider stood up and announced to fellow passengers that Obama was paying people?s bills. The rider told people they could use the red numbers on the backs of their Social Security cards to tap into the government money. Steve Wertheim of United Way said the woman claimed she had successfully paid her electric bill using the technique.

How credible would you have to be to believe someone who stands up on a bus and announces such a crazy ?fact?? Apparently, the hoax soon turned into an identity scam, which took in tens of thousands of people in New Jersey, Louisiana and elsewhere:

The scam began on the West Coast in May or possibly earlier, and then quickly moved east.

The hook ? cast through phone calls, e-mails and text messages ? was the same. The federal government, in a new stimulus plan, would pay that month?s utility bill. To apply, all a customer needed to do was provide a Social Security number and their own bank routing code.

None of it was true. It was just an identity theft sting aimed at stealing personal information. Plenty of people, though, took the bait.

In Louisiana and Texas, Entergy Corp. reported about 2,000 of its customers were conned. Other power companies that cover Tampa, Fla., the Carolinas, parts of Mississippi and several Midwestern states also reported hundreds more being taken in by the phony offer.

But nowhere in the nation was the scam apparently more effective than in New Jersey.

Read on at the link to learn how many credible citizens there are, who are so dependent on their Government to help them out of a fix that they will grab for any ruse that sounds like something Obama might do for them, and willingly part with their Social Security and bank account numbers, to their ensuing regret.

Are they any the wiser for the experience? Only until the next ?too-good-to-be-true? story comes along to ensnare them. Apparently, the susceptibility to such scams is directly proportionate to people?s ignorance about where the government gets its money:

In the face of stories such as these, it is best to recall the wisdom of another Cleveland?that long-ago, famously skinflint president, Grover Cleveland (who actually vetoed more bills during his first and second terms than any other president before or since):

?If the Government supports the people,? he said in one of his veto messages to Congress, ?who will support the Government??

DOJ Sticks To Its Guns In Price-Fixing Suit Against Apple, Won?t Modify eBook Settlement

ibooksshotAccording to the U.S. Justice Department's latest filing in its suit against Apple and a number of major publishers over alleged price fixing in the eBook market, the DOJ won't make any major changes to its proposed settlement after receiving and analyzing 868 public comments about the suit. The settlement is currently under review in a federal court in New York and today's document outlines some of the public comments the DOJ received after the settlement was announced. Earlier this year, three of the publishers named in the suit (Hachette, HarperCollins and Simon & Schuster) quickly agreed with the Justice Department's proposed terms and settled. Apple, Macmillan and Penguin Group decided to fight the charges, however.

'Dance Moms' star blasts haters as 'just jealous'

Fox / Getty Images

By Marc Malkin, E! Online

"Dance Moms" star Abby Lee Miller doesn't give a rat's behind what you think of her sometimes harsh way of teaching the young wannabes at her Pittsburgh dancing school.

"You know, the criticism is from the dance community and they're all just jealous that they don't have a show," Miller said at the Teen Choice Awards.

Oh?

"Come on," she said, "if Lifetime approached them, you don't think they would have said yes?"

READ: More from E! Online: Lifetime replaces Bristol Palin's 'Life's a Tripp' with 'Dance Moms' ?reruns

In February, "Dancing With the Stars pros" Derek Hough and Mark Ballas took to Twitter to voice their (very strong) disapproval of Miller's teaching methods.

"I'm sorry but this Dance mom show is straight up abusive," Hough tweeted. "Kids Run !!!!!! It ain't right. Child abuse isn't right. I'm livid right now...(There's) nothing productive about screaming and making little girls cry over being on the wrong foot."

Describing Miller as "crazy," Ballas tweeted, "Dance is meant to be fun and inspirational, not abusive. Kids are impressionable and I don't want young children being afraid to take up dance because of this lady."

Despite what we may see on the show (screaming fights, anyone?), Miller insists she actually stays out of the mommy drama. "I have to or I would lose my flippin' mind," she said. "I've been doing this for 30 years and before there wasn't one mom that traveled with us. The kids all had their money in an envelope and we left and we were gone all summer. We'd be in Orlando, Vegas, L.A. and so on."

Photos from E! Online: Reality TV hookups?

Yes, some were with her and walking the pink carpet at Teen Choice.

But Miller is willing to put up with her critics and the clients because of, well, the paycheck.

Asked how much longer she'd want to do the Lifetime show, Miller howled, "Until I pay everything off."

PFT: Jenkins expected at Cowboys camp

Fred Jackson, Buddy NixAP

The Bills haven?t been to the postseason since Frank Wycheck threw the ball to Kevin Dyson on a late-game kickoff return, and Dyson then ran untouched to the end zone to polish off the Music City Miracle.

Buffalo?s pro football team has flirted with a playoff berth several times since then, but they haven?t been able to finish the job.? As the 2012 season approaches, the talk has become less about hope and more about expectation, week by week and for the full season.

?One thing Coach [Chan] Gailey has done is taken us from a team that hopes to win and hopes to have the ball bounce our way to a team that expects to win when we take the field,? safety George Wilson told Tim Graham of the Buffalo News.

G.M. Buddy Nix says that, when he returned to the Bills as a scout in 2009, he sensed that the organization was in a funk.? ?We needed a culture change,? Nix said.

?Sometimes you have to change a bunch of people, and that?s not an easy thing,? Nix explained.? ?If you get people who are complacent, whether they?re players or anywhere in the building, you try to get by that.? We went a year with most folks [at One Bills Drive].? But if they couldn?t make the change, then you make a change.?

Part of the change has been to get the right kind of players.? ?I don?t think you do that unless you emphasize all areas of life, not just football,? Gailey said.? ?We have guys that believe in doing things the right way.? It?s proven out.? We have very few incidents on our football team because I believe we?ve got the right kind of men.?

Wilson says that attitude has resulted in a disappearance of bickering among players.? ?We don?t have the locker-room-lawyer stuff that divides a team,? Wilson said. ?We don?t allow the friendly fire.? We try to protect each other, come to each other?s aid. But we hold each other accountable.? We don?t let anybody cut corners.

?We have good people in the locker room.? They want guys they can trust even when they?re not looking.? That changed the culture with the kind of men we have.?

None of it will matter if quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick doesn?t improve significantly under quarterbacks coach David Lee, or if the new Dave Wannstedt defense will be sufficiently disruptive, with the addition of Mario Williams and Mark Anderson.

But at least there?s reason for hope.? No, there?s reason for expectation.

Business Owners! Who's Guarding Your Data? Don't Gamble When It

?

By Peter Williamson

If you?re like many busy business owners, chances are you haven?t updated your online security in a while. Many business owners are willing to take a chance on whatever system they have in place and don?t even know:

? If it?s active ? If it automatically updates ? Whether it?s working

Most of us assume the security software is ?doing what it?s designed to do?: protecting our online presence, but guess what? It?s not enough to ?think? everything?s okay. Here are some things you can do to ensure you?re protected.

1) Microsoft has a collection of compatible antivirus vendors and a lot of them are free. And if you?re still running some old, and I do mean old versions of Windows, check out Windows XP on Google.

2) For you Mac users, try Sophos Anti-Virus or Norton?s iAntivirus.

3) And if you are Linux users, there?s help for you, too. Try Linux Anti-Virus .As an added measure, keep your firewall enabled.

Heads up, though. The firewall on Macs is strangely disabled by default, so be aware of that. There are few things more agonizing than having your security compromised or losing important data. Remember to:

1). Always backup you data. Think of it like a haircut. Once hair is cut, it?s hard to get it back. Same with data. Once it?s gone, it?s hard to get it back without backup. Are you backing up on an external drive? Just be sure to use an online file-sharing services like Dropbox to make sure those locations are also being protected.

2) Consider disconnecting automatic login and set the computer so that a password is needed to open it. It cuts down on convenience, true. But, your protection is worth a little inconvenience.

3) While sharing passwords or using clever ones is tempting, don?t. Case in point: hackers were able to crack Linked In passwords with everyone who used ?Link? as part of their password?

4) Don?t automatically download software that you know nothing about, just because the popup says you need it. Do the research.

5) Avoid questionable sites. Your business is your business, but going on socially unacceptable sites will increase your chances of a breach in security, exposing you to harmful software.

6) By the same token, avoid clicking on links you?re unfamiliar with. As busy business owners, we sometimes click at lightning speed through emails, only to open ones that can contain viruses that infect our computers and anyone we forward email to.

Not everyone is security savvy. Alert your friends and associates if something they have sent you is infected. By being aware of these protective measures and updating your online security, you can better ensure that precious time and important data won?t be lost.
